Check the tightening of the cylinder head mounting bolts after the break-in period and every 40 thousand km of run on a warmed-up diesel engine in the following order:
Check the angular free play of the steering wheel with the engine idling, shaking the steering wheel until the steering wheels begin to turn
Removing and disassembling the ZIL-5301 cardan transmission
To remove the cardan transmission from the vehicle, unscrew the nuts securing the rear fork-flange of the cardan shaft, remove the washers and remove the bolts from the flange holes, while supporting the cardan shaft.
To check the condition of the steering rod joints, place the vehicle on a level horizontal surface so that the front wheels are straight ahead

ZIL-5301 vehicles are equipped with a combined pneumatic-hydraulic brake drive with two independent hydraulic pneumatic circuits, divided into two circuits until July 2001, option 1 (Fig. 1a), and currently - option 2 (Fig. 1b)
