Repair ZIL-5301
Cylinder liners and cylinder block seating surfaces under the liners should be wiped with a napkin and blown with compressed air
Install the cylinder liners in the diesel block
Disassembling the ZIL-5301 power steering pump and its drive
Disassemble the pump only if the flow rate is insufficient (volumetric efficiency below 0.6)
The ZIL-Bychok is equipped with a leading rear axle with a single-stage hypoid final drive (Fig. 1)
Front suspension - dependent, leaf spring, attached to the frame with elastic hinges.
Guide apparatus and elastic elements - longitudinally located asymmetrical leaf springs

Cause of fault (Remedy)
The car does not hold the road well:
ZIL-5301 rear axle gearbox
The car and bus are equipped with a leading rear axle with a single-stage hypoid final drive (Fig. 1).
The final drive ratio is 3.273 or 3.45.
The differential is a bevel gear with four satellites.
The steering device is shown in Figure 1.
The steering gear is with a hydraulic booster, located in a common housing with the steering gear; it has a screw with a nut on circulating balls and a piston-rack with a toothed sector.
