During the maintenance of the power supply system, it is necessary to control the purity and brand of the fuel used, pay attention to the quality and regular performance of inspection and adjustment work to care for the fuel equipment, and timely eliminate the malfunctions that have arisen in the power supply system.

To maintain its performance, it is necessary first of all to ensure the cleanliness of filling the tank.

It should be filled with previously settled fuel, and in winter operating conditions it is advisable to refuel the tank more often, top it up with fuel before returning from the flight, so that the tank is as full as possible.

This avoids excessive water content in the fuel condensing on the walls of a half-empty tank.

At positive ambient temperatures, the sludge from the tank should be drained into a volume of about 3 l at least at TO-2, during winter operation - daily before departure from the park in the amount of 100...300 ml (not earlier than 5 hours after the engine is stopped).

The fuel should not contain mechanical impurities and water, which drastically reduce the service life of the fuel equipment (especially in the cold season), lead to a breakthrough of the curtain of the filter elements and the practical loss of their filtering ability, after which the details become the object of intense influence - pollution precision pairs of fuel equipment.

The increased water content in the fuel during winter operation causes clogging of the fuel intake screen with ice crystals, which leads to engine failure to start.

In this case, it is necessary to throw a rag over the place where the fuel is taken from the tank and pour boiling water over it.

In the same way, before starting the engine in severe frosts, warm up the coarse and fine fuel filters, the high-pressure fuel pump.

In the absence of winter fuel, summer fuel is recommended to be diluted with kerosene to prevent its solidification (up to 50 ... 60% at air temperatures below -30 ° C).

In extreme cases, the addition of low-octane gasoline (up to 1/3) is allowed. which is undesirable due to a decrease in the resource of fuel equipment and the engine.

In any case, use the minimum amount of additives, as they lead to a decrease in engine power.

During operation, it is necessary to carefully monitor the condition of the fuel filters and timely flush the coarse filter and change the filter elements of the fine filter.

The factory operating manual recommends draining sediment from fuel filters during periodic vehicle maintenance (TO-1).

In the cold season, in order to avoid freezing of moisture in the filter caps and interruptions in engine operation, the sediment should be drained daily before the car leaves the park in a volume of at least 0.1 l from each cap.
