Disconnect the longitudinal steering rod from the bipod of the steering mechanism.
Using a 17mm socket on the inside of the frame spar, unscrew the bolt securing the mechanism to the frame.
From the engine compartment side, use a 17mm spanner to unscrew the upper mechanism mounting bolt
Unscrew the lower bolt securing the mechanism to the bracket.
The upper bolt can only be removed by removing the bracket.
Remove the steering mechanism.
Using a 36mm socket, unscrew and remove the bipod fastening nut
Remove the spring washer.
We use a chisel to mark the position of the bipod on the shaft and treat the joint with a penetrating liquid (kerosene, WD-40, etc.).
Alternatingly tightening the puller bolt and delivering sharp blows to the bipod through the spacer, we pull the bipod off the shaft splines
Remove the bipod.
The spline connection has four double grooves on the shaft
And four double slots are made in the hole of the bipod
Before disassembling the mechanism, unscrew the filler plug and drain the oil into a container (at least 0.5 l)
Install the steering mechanism in the reverse order, aligning the marks made and lubricating the splines of the bipod with any grease.
After installation, fill in transmission oil.
