The steering mechanism is mounted on the left side member and secured through the bracket with bolts and nuts
Steering mechanisms without hydraulic booster and with hydraulic booster are removed the same
The difference is that the integral steering mechanism has two hydraulic hoses.
And before you remove the power steering, you need to drain the fluid from the power steering system.
Disconnect the steering shaft from the steering mechanism How to remove, disassemble and adjust the steering column of a Gazelle car
Disconnect the longitudinal tie rod from the bipod of the steering gear.
Using the “17” head on the inside of the frame side member, unscrew the bolt securing the mechanism to the frame.
From the side of the engine compartment with a 17 spanner, unscrew the upper bolt of the mechanism
We unscrew the lower bolt securing the mechanism to the bracket.
The top bolt can only be removed by removing the bracket.
Remove the steering gear.
With the “36” head, turn off and remove the bipod fastening nut
Remove the spring washer.
We mark the position of the bipod on the shaft with a chisel and process the connection with a penetrating liquid (kerosene, WD-40, etc.).
Alternately tightening the bolt of the puller and applying sharp blows to the bipod through the spacer, we pull the bipod from the splines of the shaft
Remove the bipod.
The spline connection has four double grooves on the shaft
And four double slots are made in the bipod hole
Before disassembling the mechanism, unscrew the filler plug and drain the oil into a container (at least 0.5 l)
We install the steering mechanism in the reverse order, aligning the marks made and lubricating the bipod splines with any grease.
After installation, fill in gear oil.
