We remove the fuel rail to replace the injectors and to clean the fuel rail, as well as when repairing the cylinder head

We prepare the car for the work.

We release the fuel pressure. To do this, tilt the rear row of seats forward (for a 5-seater configuration) or the middle row (for a 7-seater configuration).

Disconnect and lift the floor trim.

Remove the electric fuel pump hatch cover.

Disconnecting the rear wiring harness connector from the electric fuel pump module: 1 - wiring harness connector; 2 - electric fuel pump module; 3 - fuel tank

Disconnect block 1, rear wiring harness from module 2 of the electric fuel pump.

Start the engine and let it run at idle speed until it stops completely to relieve pressure in the fuel system.

Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

After that, connect the wiring harness block to the fuel pump module.

Install the electric fuel pump hatch cover.

Install and secure the floor trim.

Return the seats to their original position.

Removing the protective cover of the fuel rail: 1 - nuts for fastening the protective cover of the fuel rail; 2 - protective cover of the fuel rail

Using a 13 mm socket, unscrew the two nuts 1 (Figure 2) and remove the protective cover 2 of the fuel rail.

Removing the fuel rail of the K4M engine: 1 - fuel pipe; 2 - connectors of the wiring harness to the injectors; 3 - fuel rail; 4 - fuel rail mounting bolts

Press the spring lock of the tube connector 1, and by moving along the axis of the fitting, disconnect the tube 1 from the fuel rail 3.

For vehicles with a "van" body, first cover the place of the fuel pipe connector with a rag and prevent fuel from escaping when disconnecting the fuel line, since the pressure in the fuel line is maintained.

Disconnect the pads 2 (Figure 3), the wiring harness from the injectors of the fuel rail 3.

Using an 8 mm head, unscrew the two bolts 4 and remove the fuel rail 3 assembled with the injectors.

Installing the fuel rail

Before how to install a fuel rail on an engine, install new sealing rings on the injectors, having previously lubricated them with engine oil.

Install the fuel rail on the engine.

Install the fuel rail mounting bolts.

Using an 8 mm socket, tighten the rail mounting bolts to a torque of 9 Nm (0.9 kgf.m).

Connect the wiring harness pads to the injectors.

Connect the fuel pipe to the fuel rail until the connector spring lock clicks.

Install the protective cover 2 (Figure 2) of the fuel rail. Using a 13 mm head, tighten nuts 1 to a torque of 21 Nm (2.1 kgf.m).

Connect the negative terminal of the battery. Check the tightness of the connections.
