We replace shock absorbers in case of fluid leakage from shock absorbers, loss of functionality and presence of obvious defects.
Shock absorbers must be replaced as a set for both sides
We prepare the car for work. We install the car on the lift.
If the car is a five-seater R90 - move the rear wheel arch trim to the side.
If the car is a seven-seater, then you need to fold the back row of seats.
Remove the rear side armrests.
Remove the fastening parts and armrest brackets.
Remove the plugs 1, figure 1, of the shock absorber attachment points to the rear wheel arches. Remove the rear wheels.
Raise the car, place a stand under the rear suspension arm and lower the car until the spring begins to compress.
Lock the rod with a special key or a 6 key and unscrew the shock absorber mounting nut to the body with a 16 key.
Remove the washer.
Remove the upper cushion of the shock absorber hinge and the bushing of the shock absorber hinge.
Using a 21 mm socket, unscrew the bolt, Figure 5, securing the shock absorber to the rear suspension arm and remove the shock absorber.
Remove the lower cushion of the shock absorber hinge and washer from the shock absorber rod.
Installation
A new shock absorber rod mounting nut must be installed. Also, the bolt that secures the shock absorber to the rear suspension arm needs to be replaced.
Install the washer, lower cushion and shock absorber hinge bushing on the shock absorber rod.
Place the shock absorber in the rear wheel arch, connect the shock absorber to the rear suspension arm and screw in, without tightening, a new mounting bolt (replaceable head 21, ratchet).
Insert the shock absorber rod into the mounting hole in the wheel arch, install the upper cushion of the shock absorber hinge, washer on the rod and screw in a new mounting nut. Tightening torque of the nut is 14 Nm (1.4 kgf.m).
Install the plugs of the shock absorber attachment points to the rear wheel arches.
Repeat the removal and installation operations for the second shock absorber.
Install the rear wheels.
Install in place:
- - rear wheel arch trim;
- - storage compartment;
- - armrest fastening parts and brackets;
- - rear side armrests.
Final tightening of the shock absorber mounting bolts to the rear suspension arms should be performed with the vehicle standing on its wheels.
Final tightening of the shock absorber mounting bolts to the rear suspension arms suspension.
The tightening torque of the bolts is 105 Nm (10.5 kgf.m) (replaceable head 21, torque wrench).
