If the inspection of the beam reveals breaks or swelling of the hinge rubber, both silent blocks must be replaced
Prepare the car for the work. Install it on an inspection ditch or on a lift. We will also need an adjustable stop for the work.
Raise the rear of the car and place supports under it.
Remove the wheels.
Remove the parking brake cable from the eye of the beam bracket. Install an adjustable stop under the beam arm.
If the car is equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS), remove the rubber coupling of the speed sensor wire harness from the holder on the arm.
Disconnect the lower shock absorber mount from the beam arm.
Unscrew the nut of the arm mounting bolt to the bracket and the three bracket mounting bolts to the body.
Lower the right side of the beam on the adjustable stop until the fuel tank stops interfering with the arm mounting bolt coming out.
When lowering the beam, make sure that the rear brake hoses are not too tight.
Having removed the bolt, remove the bracket from the lever.
A significant part of the loads is absorbed by the silent block of the lever along the axis of the car, so the section of the rubber mass silent block is asymmetrical.
Note how the silent block was installed relative to the hole in the beam in order to install a new one as well.
It is best to press the silent block out of the lever with a special puller.
If there is no puller, you can make removal easier by cutting the outer ring of the silent block.
Insert the blade of a hacksaw for metal into the hole in the rubber mass of the silent block and saw the plastic outer sleeve of the silent block.
This will significantly reduce the tension of the silent block in the hole in the lever.
After this, using a mandrel or a piece of pipe of a suitable diameter, we knock out the silent block from the lever from the side of the threshold, applying force to the outer ring.
Before pressing in the new silent block, clean the hole in the lever.
Insert the silent block into the hole in the lever, orienting it according to the marks.
Press it in silent block into the lever with a cup puller, applying force through the mandrel to the outer bushing of the silent block (for clarity, we show it on the removed beam).
We replace the silent block of the left lever in a similar way, except for the operation of unscrewing the bolts securing the lever bracket to the body (after unscrewing the nut of the bolt securing the left lever to the bracket, we remove the bolt and remove the lever from the bracket eye).
We install the levers of the rear suspension beam in the reverse order.
We finally tighten the nuts of the bolts securing the levers to the brackets when the car is on the wheels.
Tightening torques of the parts:
- - bolts securing the speed sensors 14 Nm;
- - nut of the bolt securing the rear suspension arm to the body bracket 125 Nm.
