The fuel rail is removed to replace injectors and repair the cylinder head, as well as when replacing the rail itself

The fuel rail is usually removed to check and replace injectors, as well as to repair the cylinder head.

Reduce the pressure in the fuel system (see "Reducing the pressure of the fuel in the engine supply system").

Remove the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

Remove the decorative engine cover (see "Removing and installing the decorative engine cover").

Remove the air filter (see Removing and installing the air filter).

Remove the throttle assembly from the intake manifold (see "Removing and installing the throttle assembly").

Remove the intake manifold (see "How to replace the cylinder head cover gasket VAZ-21126").

Squeeze the latch

Remove the injector harness connector.

Similarly, remove the pads from the remaining three nozzles.

Do an initial check of the injector windings.

To do this, alternately connect an ohmmeter to the contacts in the injector connectors and in each case measure the resistance of their windings.

It should be 11-15 ohms.

If the resistance value differs when measuring an injector, then this injector is defective and must be replaced (see "Checking and replacing injectors").

To replace the wiring harness of the injectors or the fuel rail, it is necessary to cut the mounting clamps with side cutters.

This operation is not required to replace the injectors.

In the following, the wiring harness has been removed for clarity.

Unscrew the fuel supply pipe fitting

Use the special "17" wrench to unscrew the tube fittings.

Be sure to hold the fuel rail end nut with a second open end wrench.

Please note: the connection of the tube and the ramp is sealed with a rubber ring.

Be sure to replace a severely compressed, hardened or torn ring.

If any injector remains in the engine intake pipe when removing the fuel rail, replace its o-rings and retainer.

Install and secure the fuel rail in the reverse order of removal, lubricating the injector O-rings with engine oil or WD-40.

When installing the fuel rail, ensure that the injector harness does not touch the engine, secure it to the rail with new plastic clamps.

After installing the fuel rail, connecting the fuel line and connecting the wiring harness, secure the minus terminal to the battery, turn the ignition key to the "I" (ignition) position 3-4 times at intervals of 2-3 seconds between ignitions and check tightness of the pipeline connection and nozzle seals.
