In the VAZ-21126 engine, the joint between the cover and the cylinder head is sealed with a sealant applied to the mating surfaces of the parts.
If there is a leak between the cover and the cylinder head, you need to try to eliminate the leak by tightening the nuts securing the cylinder head cover.
If the oil leak from under the cylinder head cover could not be eliminated by tightening the cap fastening nuts, replace the sealing layer of the sealant.
You will need: socket wrench “8”, wrenches “10”, “13”, screwdrivers with a flat and cross-shaped blade, wire cutters or a knife.
Disconnect the ignition coil harness connector
Disconnect the injector harness connector.
Squeezing the latches with your fingers, disconnect the ignition coil harness connector
Disconnect the injector harness connector from the front bracket
Unscrew the mounting bolts with a 10 wrench and remove the front bracket
Remove the rear bracket.
Loosen clamp
Remove the crankcase ventilation exhaust hose from the head cover tube
Loosen clamp
Remove the exhaust hose of the crankcase ventilation system from the pipe of the cylinder block.
Remove the screw securing the bracket for the oil level indicator (dipstick)
Remove the guide along with the pointer.
Unscrew the two nuts securing the intake manifold to the head cover with a 10 wrench
With a 13 wrench, unscrew the three nuts and unscrew the two bolts securing the intake manifold to the block head
Remove the intake manifold
Unscrew the fifteen bolts securing the cylinder head cover with an 8" socket wrench
Press the cover from the cylinder head using the protrusions located around its perimeter
Remove the lid.
Before installing the cover, clean the mating surfaces of the block head and cover from the old sealant, degrease them.
Apply a thin layer of sealant to the mating surface of the cylinder head.
Install parts in reverse order.
