The ZIL-5301 and its modifications are equipped with a voltage regulator mod. 4202.3702 (installation of mod. 206.3702 or 207.3702 is possible), designed to work with the generator mod. 2022.3771, and having two isolated terminals "Ш" and "+"
The regulator is used to automatically maintain the generator voltage necessary to ensure the normal charging mode of the battery and the normal operation of consumers in cold, moderate and tropical climates.
The regulator works with an electrolyte temperature sensor type 1332.3842, installed in the middle bank of the main battery.
If the sensor is missing or fails, the regulator can operate without it with connecting an equivalent constant resistor.
This will maintain an average level of voltage regulation.
The regulator does not require adjustment during operation and should be replaced if a malfunction is detected.
Voltage regulators can be tested both on a vehicle and on a test bench.

- with resistance of 365±65 Ohm and temperature of 50 °C - 13.3±0.3
- with resistance of 365±65 Ohm and temperature of 50 °C - 15.0±0.3
- with resistance of 4200 Ohm and temperature of minus 10 °C, no more than 15.5
The regulator is installed in the car cabin under the instrument panel on the left side.
A jumper is installed on the regulator that regulates the charging voltage for winter and summer.
