We prepare the car for work.
Visually check the condition of the generator drive belt.
If cracks, signs of wear and other damage are found on it, replace the belt.
The belt tension is determined by its length, so there is no tensioner.
Accordingly, tension adjustment is not required during vehicle operation.
If, due to wear or oil, the belt begins to slip on the pulleys, it must be replaced.
Marking of generator drive belt 6 RK 823 (six-V-ribbed, length 823 mm)
To replace the belt, use a knife to cut the old belt and remove it
Using a 13mm socket, unscrew the lower mounting bolt of the generator several turns (shown on the removed engine)
Use a 13-mm socket to unscrew the nut
Remove the bolt of the upper mounting of the generator
Turn the generator.
In this case, the upper eye of the generator mounting should go beyond the protrusion on the bracket
And pressing the generator to the bracket, we tie the generator to the nut securing the cylinder block cover
We put the belt on the generator pulley 2 and the upper part of the generator drive pulley 1
We engage fifth gear in the gearbox and, pressing the belt against the generator drive pulley, push the car back until the belt fits onto the pulley.
After this, we untie the wire that tied the generator
Use a screwdriver or mounting spatula to press the generator away from the bracket and insert the upper bolt of the generator
Wrap and tighten the lower bolt and nut of the upper generator mounting bolt
If it is necessary to remove the belt without damaging it, we also push the car back, engaging the fifth gear of the gearbox and pressing the generator to the bracket
Using a screwdriver, pressing the belt against the outer edge of the generator drive pulley until the belt comes off the pulley.
