We remove the heater to replace the heater radiator, heater fan, repair the damper drive and to replace the evaporator if the car has air conditioning
We prepare the car, remove the negative terminal of the battery
We drain the coolant of the engine cooling system (described in the article - Replacing the coolant of the Niva Chevrolet)
Under the hood, disconnect the radiator hoses heater
On a car with air conditioning - discharge the air conditioning system
Remove the adsorber of the fuel vapor recovery system
Remove the element of the outdoor air purification filter
Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the four screws securing the filter housing to the fan housing
With a 27 key, unscrew the union nut of the low-pressure air conditioner pipe
With a 19 key, unscrew the union nut of the high-pressure air conditioner pipe
Using a 10 mm socket, unscrew the two nuts securing the heater
Remove the glove compartment (described in the article - How to remove the glove compartment of a VAZ-2123)
Remove the floor tunnel trim (described in the article - Removing the floor tunnel trim of a Niva Chevrolet)
Remove the relay and fuse for the air conditioning compressor (article - Fuse and relay boxes for a Niva Chevrolet)
Using a 13 mm socket, unscrew the two bolts securing the instrument panel crossmember pillar
Remove the pillar
Disconnect the green pads of the instrument panel wires
Disconnect the three-pin pads of the instrument panel wire harnesses
Pull out the lock on the multi-pin connector
Disconnect the black multi-pin block of the instrument panel wires
Disconnect the gray multi-pin block of the instrument panel wires
Also disconnect the pads of the wiring harnesses of the instrument panel, located next to the heater
Disconnect the pads of the wires from the brake light switch
Remove the front seats
Using a 10 mm socket, unscrew the nut securing the left air duct for the rear passenger's feet
Having lifted the air duct, we remove it from the stud and disconnect it from the front air duct for blowing the feet of the rear seat passengers
We bring the air duct out from under rugs
Remove the air duct
Also remove the right air duct for blowing the feet of the rear seat passengers
Removing the front air duct for blowing air for the rear seat passengers' feet
Removing the air duct for blowing air for the driver's feet
Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the screw securing the air duct for blowing air into the front passenger's feet
On a car with air conditioning, disconnect the condensate drain hose
Remove the instrument panel (described in the article - Removing the instrument panel of a Niva Chevrolet manufactured since 2009)
Using a 13 mm head, unscrew the four bolts of the lower mount of the instrument panel crossbar
Using a 10 mm head, unscrew the four bolts of the upper mount of the instrument panel crossbar
Remove the heater assembly from the instrument panel crossbar
Install the heater in the reverse order
