The brake caliper is replaced when the parts are significantly worn
If the bracket cylinder jams (significant corrosion of the metal piston of the cylinder appears)
Remove the front brake hose (see How to replace the front brake hose of a Gazelle car).
Using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the two bolts securing the kingpin cover
Remove the cover of the upper bearing of the kingpin with a grease fitting.
Use a 19mm socket to unscrew the two bolts securing the brake caliper.
Temporarily return the pivot bearing cap to its place so that dirt does not get into it.
Remove the bracket and remove the pads from it if you need to move them to a new bracket
We install the new bracket in the reverse order, after which we install the brake pads in it (see How to replace the front pads of a GAZ-2705).
Installing the brake hose
After filling the system with brake fluid and bleeding it (see Replacing brake fluid and bleeding the brake system of a Gazelle car), we make sure that there are no fluid leaks at the connections and reliable operation of the wheel brake mechanism.
