In accordance with the routine maintenance work on the suspension during its maintenance, it is necessary to periodically tighten the nuts of the ladders, the nuts of the bolts of the rubber-metal hinges, the parts for fastening the brackets of the springs and shock absorbers

It is recommended to pay special attention to the timely tightening of the rubber compression spring mount, as a loose mount can lead to its loss.

In this case, the load on the front spring increases significantly and its dynamic travel increases, which ultimately will lead to premature failure of the spring.

Inspection and defect detection of hangers

Gazelle car suspension

Rubber-metal hinges and rubber pads must be replaced in case of ruptures and one-sided bulging of the rubber, as well as when cutting their end surfaces

Suspensions on rubber parts are not allowed:

  • - signs of rubber aging;
  • - mechanical damage.

On rubber-metal hinges (silent blocks) are not allowed:

  • - signs of aging, cracks, one-sided bulging of the rubber mass;
  • - separation of the rubber array from the armature.

Replace defective parts.

Inspect the following key locations on the underside of the vehicle.

Compression buffers

Rubber bushings for lower and upper shock absorber joints

Rubber bushings for the front and rear ends of the springs.

Check the fastening of the king pin in the steering knuckle and in the front axle beam.

Check the fastening of the king pin in the steering knuckle and in the front axle beam

Inspect the dampers. Shock absorber fluid leaks and fogging are not allowed.

Raise the front wheel with a jack and put the car on a support

When working on a lift, be careful not to drop the car when lowering it onto a support.

Swing the wheel vertically.

If play is felt (the upper outer edge of the brake caliper moves more than 0.5 mm, this distance can be measured, for example, using an indicator), then the kingpin and bushing are worn out and need to be replaced.

When inspecting the rear suspension, you need to inspect:

  • - rubber bushings of the lower and upper shock absorber joints;
  • - rubber bushings of the front and rear ends of the springs;
  • - rubber pads for additional springs;
  • - compression buffer;
  • - shock absorbers.

To increase the anti-corrosion resistance of multi-leaf springs, it is necessary to periodically lubricate their sheets with graphite grease (in particular, when reassembling or replacing sheets), in its absence, with a mixture consisting of 30% grease, 30% graphite and 40% transformer oil
