If you find oil leaking from under the front crankshaft oil seal, it needs to be replaced
Before replacing the oil seal, make sure that the crankcase gas recirculation system is not clogged
Flush the crankcase ventilation parts (oil separator, hose).
Of course, if the car has a high mileage and is about to undergo a major overhaul, then it is easier to replace the oil seal with the engine removed during the repair.
Let's consider replacing the oil seal when the engine is on the car.
Place the car on an inspection ditch or on a lift.
Remove the engine compartment mudguards.
Remove the engine cooling system radiator.
After that, from underneath the car, using a 13 key, unscrew the two bolts securing the radiator frame strut to the lower crossmember of the frame
Using a 13 mm socket, loosen the two bolts securing the strut to the radiator frame reinforcement
Loosen the two bolts securing the strut to the upper crossmember of the radiator frame
Having squeezed the antennae of the wire harness holder with pliers, we take out the wire harness holder from the spacer hole and remove the radiator frame spacer.
It is more convenient without the radiator frame spacer remove the auxiliary drive belts.
Remove the crankshaft position sensor so as not to damage it.
To do this, disconnect the wiring block from the sensor.
Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the sensor mounting screw
Remove the sensor from the hole in the timing belt cover lug
Remove the air conditioning compressor drive belt and the auxiliary drive belt units.
We turn on the fifth gear of the gearbox and brake the wheels with the handbrake.
Using a 38 head, unscrew the pulley fastening nut
Finally unscrew the nut
Removing the pulleys from the crankshaft nose
Pry the oil seal with a screwdriver
Remove it from the timing belt cover socket
After lubricating the working edge of the oil seal with engine oil, press the oil seal with a suitable tool head or a piece of pipe
If you need to disconnect the drive pulleys:
Install the pulleys on the extended vice
Using a punch and a hammer, strike the end of the air conditioner compressor pulley evenly through the holes in the pulley
Disconnect the pulleys
Pressing in the drive pulleys using a wooden spacer
