Remove the front axle gearbox for replacement or repair
You will need: 13, 17, 27 mm wrenches, 12 mm Allen key, wheel nut wrench, chisel, hammer, transmission oil syringe, waste oil container.
Remove the front wheels.
Drain the oil from the front axle gearbox housing (see "Changing the oil in the Niva Chevrolet gearboxes").
Disconnect the front propeller shaft from the front axle gearbox (see "Removing and lubricating the Niva propeller shaft").
Unscrew the nut and remove the bolt securing the left cover of the front axle gearbox bearing to the front suspension crossmember.
Remove the right front wheel drive (see "Replacing the front wheel drives Niva Chevrolet").
Unscrew the three nuts securing the cover of the bearing of the inner joint of the left drive to the front axle gearbox.
Remove the right front wheel drive.
Unscrew the three nuts securing the cover of the bearing of the inner joint of the left drive to the front axle gearbox.
Turn the steering knuckle so that it pulled the drive, disconnect the gearbox from the drive and remove it
Install the front axle gearbox and the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
Fill the gearbox with oil (see "Changing the oil in the Niva Chevrolet gearboxes").
