The design of the rear brake working cylinders is shown in the figure.
To remove the rear brake working cylinder from the car, it is necessary to disassemble the brake mechanism, as described in the article - ZIL-5301 rear wheel brakes
Remove pistons 8 from the cylinder.
Then unscrew the brake fluid supply pipe and two bolts securing the cylinder to the brake shield.
Before disassembling, the brake cylinder must be thoroughly cleaned of dirt and wiped with a clean cloth.
To disassemble, the brake cylinder must be secured in a vice with soft jaws and the following operations must be performed
- - unscrew the bypass valve 2;
- - drain the remaining brake fluid from the cylinder;
- - remove the protective caps 9;
After disassembling, all cylinder parts must be washed with fresh brake fluid and carefully inspected.
There must be no scratches or other defects on the working surfaces of the cylinder and pistons that could lead to a brake fluid leak. Defective parts must be replaced.
After disassembling the cylinders, the rubber seals 7 must be replaced with new ones.
Assembly of the working cylinders is carried out in the reverse order.
Before assembly, all cylinder parts must be thoroughly washed with fresh brake fluid.
After installing and securing the brake cylinder on the bus, bleed the hydraulic drive and make sure that the brake drum rotates freely.
From operating experience:
If there are leaks from the working cylinder, it is better not to be clever but to buy a new cylinder and install it, so as not to waste time and money.
Of course, if the problem arose on the road and the nearest store is far away, then you need to block the supply of fluid to this cylinder.
The only thing you need to take into account is that after this, when braking, the car will slightly pull to the side opposite to the blocked side.
