The windshield wiper kit consists of a wiper drive, levers and brushes
The wiper connection diagram is shown in Fig. 1.
The wiper has three operating modes.
"I" mode - intermittent.
This mode is provided by the electronic relay K2 type 524.3747 or 523.3747, installed in the mounting block.
This relay also turns on the wiper gear motor (low speed) when the windshield washer is turned on.
- "II" mode - constant, with low brush speed.
- "III" mode - constant, with high brush speed.
The wiring diagram for the windshield wiper relay terminals is shown in Fig. 1.
The relay must ensure that the wiper motor is switched on at a frequency of 14 ± 4 cycles per minute in the operating range from idle (load only by rods) to a load with a maximum effective torque of 3.92 Nm (0.4 kgf m) at a gear motor shaft rotation speed of at least 20 min -1, at a temperature of (20 ± 5) °C and a supply voltage of (14 ± 0.2) V.
Data for checking the gear motor
Gear motor shaft rotation speed at a supply voltage of 13.5 V, a load torque of 2 Nm and an ambient temperature of (25+10) °C, min -1:
- - first (small) - 39–50
- - second (large) - 59–72
Current consumption at the above load torque, A, no more than:
- - at first speed - 4
- - at second speed - 4.7
The rear window wiper consists of a gear motor, a lever and a brush. The lever with the brush is laid to the right in the direction of travel of the car.
A thermal bimetallic fuse is installed in the wiper gear motors to protect against overloads.
The wiring diagram of the rear window wiper is shown in Fig. 2.
For the rear window wiper, with a gear motor load of 1 Nm, a supply voltage of 13.5 V, and a temperature of (25 ± 10) °C, the number of double strokes of the gear motor shaft should be 1618 min -1 in intermittent mode, 2030 min -1 in continuous mode, and the current consumption should not exceed 3 A.
Replacing the windshield wiper relay
The windshield wiper relay terminal connections diagram is shown in Fig. 1.
The relay must ensure switching the wiper mode to low speed when the windshield washer is turned on (if the wiper was in intermittent mode or was turned off).
After turning off the windshield washer, the wiper must make 2-4 full cleaning cycles at low speed at a temperature of (20±5)°C and a supply voltage of (14 ± 0.2) V.
Remove the fuse and relay box cover (see - Niva fuse and relay boxes Chevrolet).
Remove the windshield wiper relay.
Install the new relay and close the cover of the unit.
