Over time, during operation, the gasket under the engine head cover loses its elasticity and strength and oil leaks from under the cover
An external sign of wear on the valve stem seals is the short-term appearance of blue smoke from the exhaust pipe after starting the engine, as well as when braking the engine after prolonged driving under load
A sign that the front crankshaft oil seal needs to be replaced is oil leaking through its lip
If an oil leak through the oil pan gasket cannot be eliminated by tightening its mounting bolts, it means that the gasket is severely deformed and must be replaced
If the seal of the gasket is broken, exhaust gases break out, accompanied by a characteristic sound (the collector “slashes”)
We remove the spark plug tips along with the high-voltage wires, the ignition coils (you can only disconnect the connectors, leaving them on the valve cover), the throttle drive cable and, having disconnected the wires from the lubrication and cooling system sensors, remove the wiring harness from the head cover brackets
The piston of the 1st cylinder is set to the top dead center (TDC) position of the compression stroke so that when carrying out work related to removing the timing chains, the valve timing is not disturbed.
