Repair of VAZ-2121
The VAZ-21213 and its variants are off-road passenger cars. All wheels are permanently driven (non-disengageable all-wheel drive), and there is a center differential lock. The body is a monocoque, all-metal, welded unit. The engine is a four-cylinder, in-line, gasoline, four-stroke engine; the engine is mounted in the front, longitudinally. The VAZ-21213 is equipped with a 1.7-liter carbureted engine, the 21213 model, while the VAZ-21214 is equipped with a 21214 engine of the same displacement with multipoint fuel injection. (Previously, the VAZ-21214 was equipped with a 21214 engine with central fuel injection and a microprocessor-controlled ignition system.) The VAZ-21215 (sold for export) is equipped with a 1.9-liter XUD-9SD diesel engine from the Peugeot-Citroën concern.
VAZ-21214 vehicles are equipped with a three-component neutralizer emission control system.
If the handbrake cable is very stretched or jammed, it is better to replace the cable
If the parking brake system does not hold the car on a slope of up to 25% when the drive lever is moved by 4-5 teeth of the ratchet device, the parking brake must be adjusted.
In the engine compartment, unscrew the nuts securing the clutch master cylinder (see Removing the clutch master cylinder)
We remove the instrument cluster to replace it, to replace indicator lamps and backlight lamps, the speedometer cable and to access the mounting points of the instrument panel
The car has two round headlights. Headlight bulbs – double-filament (H4)
The voltage on the lamp filaments is supplied through the low and high beam relay type 113.3747, located under the instrument panel on the left side.
The parking light is on when the exterior lighting switch is pressed (fully or partially). At the same time, the rear license plate lamps also light up
