In the engine compartment, unscrew the nuts securing the clutch master cylinder (see Removing the clutch master cylinder)
Remove the clutch master cylinder from the studs without disconnecting the tube and hose.
In the cabin, disconnect the wires from the brake light switch and the vacuum booster pusher from the brake pedal (see Removing the vacuum brake booster and adjusting the brake pedal free play)
Remove the instrument cluster.
Mark the location of the wires on the ignition switch contacts.
Disconnect the wires from the ignition switch
In the instrument panel socket, disconnect the three connectors of the steering column switch
(you can identify these connectors by wiggling the wire harnesses of the steering column switch at the bottom of the steering column)
Disconnect the steering shaft bracket fastening to the body.
Lower the steering column with the steering wheel to the floor of the cabin.
We remove the wiring harness blocks of the steering column switch from the hole in the cross member of the instrument panel.
Using a “13” socket, unscrew the four nuts securing the brackets of the pedal assembly and the vacuum brake booster to the front panel.
In this case, on a VAZ-21214 car, unscrew the two nuts on the right side fastening the brackets and remove the throttle drive pedal (see Removing the cable and throttle drive pedal).
Remove the pedal assembly by turning it relative to the lower universal joint of the intermediate steering shaft.
Using pliers, remove the cotter pin from the hole in the clutch pedal pin
Remove the plate with the release spring from the pedal pin.
Disconnect the plate from the spring and remove the spring
Remove the pusher of the master cylinder of the clutch release drive from the pedal pin
Use a 10mm wrench to unscrew the locknut of the clutch pedal travel limiter
Use the same key to unscrew the limiter and remove it.
Using a 19 key, unscrew the brake light switch buffer and remove it.
Hold the brake light switch with a 14 wrench and unscrew the lock nut with a 19 wrench.
Unscrew the brake light switch from the bracket hole.
Using a screwdriver, disconnect the clutch servo spring from the hook.
Remove the hook
Remove the spring.
Using two 19mm wrenches, unscrew the nut of the clutch and brake pedal axle bolt.
Remove the bolt and washer.
Pedals, bolt axle and spacer.
An inner (metal) and two outer split (plastic) bushings are installed in the boss of each pedal
We assemble and install the pedal assembly in the reverse order
Before assembly, apply Litol-24 lubricant to the pedal bushings, the ends of the springs and the joints of the pushers with the pedals.
When installing the clutch master cylinder, insert the pusher into the cylinder piston socket, put the cylinder on the studs and secure it with nuts.
