Removing the neutralizer
We carry out the work on an inspection ditch or a lift.
Using two 17mm spanners, unscrew the nuts of the two bolts for the rear mounting of the neutralizer.
Disconnect the neutralizer from the additional muffler.
Using a 13mm spanner, unscrew the two bolts securing the converter to the exhaust pipe
Remove the bolts along with the springs.
Remove the neutralizer.
To replace the O-ring, pry it up with a screwdriver and remove it
Install the neutralizer in reverse order
Removing the additional muffler
On a VAZ-21214 car equipped with a catalytic converter, disconnect it from the additional muffler.
Loosen the clamp securing the main muffler to the additional muffler and remove the additional muffler.
On a car not equipped with a catalytic converter, loosen the clamp securing the main muffler to the additional muffler.
We similarly loosen the fastening of the additional muffler to the exhaust pipe.
Disconnect the pipes of the main and additional mufflers.
We similarly disconnect the additional muffler and the exhaust pipe.
We install the additional muffler in the reverse order, making sure that the exhaust system elements do not touch the body during vibrations.
Removing the exhaust pipe
We disconnect the additional muffler from the exhaust pipe on a VAZ-21213 car or the catalytic converter on a VAZ-21214 car.
Removing the anti-roll bar
Using a 13mm socket, unscrew the bolt securing the exhaust pipe clamp to the bracket.
On a VAZ-21214 car, remove the air filter housing (How to replace the fuel and air filter of a VAZ-2121 injection engine).
In the engine compartment, use a screwdriver to bend the edges of the locking plates of the nuts securing the exhaust pipe flange to the exhaust manifold
Use a 13mm socket to unscrew the four nuts.
Remove the locking plates.
Move the exhaust pipe flange from the exhaust manifold studs
Remove the sealing gasket.

Having installed a new gasket, mount the exhaust pipe in the reverse order
