To adjust the rear wheel hub bearings;

  • — lift the rear of the car;
  • — drain the oil from the wheel gears;
  • — disassemble the wheel gear;
  • — check if the wheel rotates freely when pushed by hand. If the wheel rotates stiffly, find out if this is caused by damage to the seal or bearing. Correct the defect and only then proceed with the adjustment;

Wheel drive of the drive axle with diskless wheels: 1 - satellite axle; 2, 6, 8, 16 - bolts; 3 - needle bearing; 4, 7 - bearing; 5 - hub; 9 - ABS sensor; 10 - brake drum; 11 - shield; 12 - axle; 13 - half shaft 14 - expander knuckle; 15 - brake shoe; 17, 20 - nut; 18 — washer; 19 — driven gear hub; 21 — driven gear; 22 — drain plug; 23 — planet carrier; 24 — cover; 25 cracker; 27 — axle shaft stop; 28 — driving gear; 29 — filler plug 26 satellite

  • — turning the hub, tighten nut 17 (Fig. 1, 2) to a torque of 392-490 Nm (40-50 kg/cm), then unscrew it by 60-75 degrees and check the hub for ease of rotation. It should rotate freely, but without play;
  • — install washer 18, lock washer, tighten lock nut 20 with a torque of 40-50 kgf-m and lock it by bending the whisker of the lock washer;
  • — check the rotation of the hub again. There should be no axial play.

The correctness of the adjustment can be determined by the mileage of the car by the degree of heating of the hub, the temperature of which should not exceed 60 ˚С (at a higher temperature, the hand cannot withstand prolonged contact).

Wheel drive: 1 washer, 2.33 - nuts, 3, 5 - plugs, 4 - pinion gear, 6 - axle shaft, 7 - cracker, 8 axle shaft stop, 9 cover, 10 satellite axle, 11 needle bearing, 12 carrier, 13, 32 - sealing ring, 14 satellite, 15 - driven gear, 16 driven gear hub, 17 hub, 18 bearing, 26 oil seal, 27 oil seal cover, 28 brake shoe, 29 brake drum, 30 bolt, 31 - bearing

Adjust the bearings (Fig. 2) in the following order:

  • — drain the oil from the wheel transmission;
  • — remove cover 9, remove planet carrier 12, extract axle shaft 6, unscrew lock nut 2, remove washer 1 and loosen nut 33;

Wheel transmission of the drive axle with disc wheels: 1 — satellite axle; 2, 6, 8 - bolts; 3 - needle bearing; 4,7 — bearing; 5 — hub; 9 — ABS sensor; 10 - brake drum; 11 shield, 12 — axle; 13 — axle shaft; 14 — expansion knuckle; 15 — brake shoe; 17, 20 — nut; 18 — washer; 19 — driven gear hub; 21 — driven gear; 22 — drain plug; 23 — planet carrier; 24 — cover; 25 — filler plug; 26 — cracker; 27 — axle shaft stop; 28 — driving gear; 29 — satellite

  • — turning the hub, tighten nut 33 (tightening torque 392-490 Nm (40-50 kg/cm)), then unscrew it by 60-75 degrees and check the hub for ease of rotation. It should rotate freely, but without play;
  • — install the lock washer 1, if the washer hole does not match the nut pin, tighten (unscrew) the nut until the pin matches the nearest washer hole;
  • — install the lock washer, tighten the lock nut to a torque of 390-490 Nm (40-50 kgf) and lock it by bending the lock washer whisker;
  • — check the hub rotation again. There should be no axial play.

The correctness of the adjustment can be determined by the vehicle's mileage based on the degree of heating of the hub, the temperature of which should not exceed 60 °C (at a higher temperature, the hand cannot withstand prolonged contact).

The adjustment of the front wheel hubs is carried out in a similar manner.

After removing the driver, it is also necessary to remove the drive pinion of the wheel transmission.
