Replacing the front wheel pads

You need to install the front wheel pads on both wheels at the same time. The pads must be from the same manufacturer.

Prepare the car for the work. We install the car on the lift and turn off the ignition.

Remove the front wheels.

Raise the car to a height convenient for performing the work.

Clean the front brake parts.

Using a powerful screwdriver, we spread the pads, while it is better to unscrew the cover of the brake hydraulic reservoir.

Using a 13 head, unscrew and remove the lower bolt 1, Figure 1, fastening the guide pin, holding the guide pin 7 with a 15 key.

Replacing the front brake pads: 1, 2 - guide pin mounting bolts; 3 - guide pin protective cover; 4 - front brake guide; 5 - front brake caliper; 6 - brake pads; 7 - guide pin

Turn the caliper 1, figure 2, of the front brake upward and remove the brake pads 2 and noise-suppressing plates 4.

Replacing the front brake pads: 1 - front brake caliper; 2 - brake pads; 3 - front brake guide; 4 - noise-suppressing plates

Installing the pads

Checking the thickness of the brake pad linings. If the lining thickness is less than 1.5 mm, replace the pads.

Check the condition of the working piston dust cap, the guide pin dust covers and replace if necessary.

Reinstall the brake pads and noise-suppressing plates, lower the caliper to the working position.

Clean the threaded part of bolt 1, Figure 1, from sealant residues.

Apply sealant to the threaded part of bolt 1 and, holding the guide pin with a wrench, screw the bolt into the pin hole.

Tightening torque of the guide pin mounting bolt 26 - 31 Nm (2.6 - 3.1) kgf.m

Install the front wheels.

After that, press the brake pedal 2-3 times, check and, if necessary, bring the level to normal brake fluid in the brake hydraulic reservoir.

The brake fluid level should be at the "max" mark on the reservoir body.

Reinstall the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Check the efficiency of the working brake system.

Removing and installing the front brake assembly

Prepare the car as described above.

Remove the front wheel.

Raise the car to a comfortable height.

Clean the brake parts.

Remove the front brake hose.

Removing the front brake guide: 1 - guide mounting bolts; 2 - guide pin mounting bolts; 3 - front brake guide; 4 - caliper

Using an 18 mm socket, unscrew the two bolts 1, Figure 3, securing the guide 3 of the front brake to the steering knuckle, remove the bolts and remove the front brake assembly.

Installation

After removal, the bolts 1, Figure 3, securing the guide to the steering knuckle must be replaced.

Install the front brake assembly on the steering knuckle and secure the front brake guide with new mounting bolts. Tightening torque of bolts 120 Nm (12.0 kgf.m).

Install the front brake hose.

Bleed the brake system and, if necessary, the clutch hydraulic drive.

Check the efficiency of the working brake system.

Removing and checking the front brake disc

Perform the work on preparing the car as described above.

Remove the front wheel and clean the front wheel brake mechanism.

Removing the brake disc: 1 - front brake mechanism; 2 - front brake disc; 3 - brake disc mounting screws

Using a 18 mm socket, unscrew and remove the bolts securing the front brake guide to the steering knuckle, remove the front brake 1, Figure 4, as an assembly and hang it on the suspension spring.

Checking the technical condition of the front brake disc

The brake disc is not subject to grinding. If there are deep scratches, the disc is subject to amen. If the disc thickness is less than 19.8 mm, the disc must be replaced.

If you are replacing the brake disc on one side, you must also replace the brake disc on the other side.

When replacing the brake discs, you must replace the brake pads.

Using a Torx T40 bit, unscrew and remove the two screws 3 securing the brake disc to the front wheel hub and remove the brake disc 2.

Installing the brake disc

Reinstall the brake disc and secure it to the hub with two screws. The tightening torque of the screws is 12 - 16 Nm (1.2 - 1.6 kgf.m).

Install the front brake assembly on the steering knuckle and secure it with new mounting bolts. Tightening torque of bolts 91 - 120 Nm (9.1 - 12.0) kgf.m.

Install the front wheel.

Press the brake pedal 2-3 times, check and, if necessary, bring the brake fluid level in the brake hydraulic reservoir to normal.

Check the efficiency of the working brake system.

Removing and installing the front brake disc casing

Prepare the car as described above.

Remove the front wheel.

Raise the car to a height convenient for performing work.

Remove the front brake disc as described above.

Removing the brake disc casing: 1, 3 - brake disc casing mounting bolts; 2 - brake disc casing

Using a Torx T30 replacement bit, unscrew the three bolts 1, Figure 5, securing the front brake disc casing and remove the casing 2.

Installing the front brake mechanism casing

Reinstall the front brake disc casing and secure it to the steering knuckle with three bolts. Tightening torque of bolts 7.0-9.0 Nm (0.7-0.9 kgf.m).

Install the front brake disc as described above.

Install the front wheel.

Press the brake pedal 2-3 times, check and, if necessary, bring the brake fluid level in the brake hydraulic reservoir to normal.

Check the efficiency of the working brake system.
