Prepare the car for work. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Perform the work on a lift or inspection pit.
Remove the engine sump guard.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system (see the article - "How to replace the coolant").
Remove the front right wheel.
Remove the accessory drive belt (see the article - "How to replace the alternator belt").
Remove the timing belt (see - "Checking and replacing the timing belt").
Remove the timing belt tension roller.
Using 8 and 10 mm heads, unscrew bolts 1, securing the water pump.
Remove the water pump.
Remove the water pump gasket
Clean the surfaces of the pump and block from gasket residues
Install the pump and tighten according to the numbers in the figure.
Tighten with a torque wrench:
- - bolt 1 (M8) securing the water pump 22 Nm (2.2 kgf.m);
- - bolts 2-8 (M6) securing the water pump 11 Nm (1.1 kgf.m).
After that:
Install the timing belt tension roller.
Install the timing belt.
Install the accessory drive belt.
Install the right front wheel.
Fill the engine cooling system.
Install the engine crankcase protection.
Connect the ground wire terminal to battery.
Bleed air from the engine cooling system.
