Possible malfunctions of ZIL-5301 brakes
If, when you press the brake pedal, you feel a sharp braking of the front brake with it being pulled to the side, then the front wheel pads have clearly worn out completely, and because of this, the brake disc is worn out
Cause of malfunction (Method of elimination)
The car does not release the brakes:
- Swelling of the cuffs of the main and wheel cylinders
Replace cuffs
- Clogged compensation holes of the master cylinder
Clean expansion holes with soft wire
When braking, the car skids to the side:
- Oily or dirty brake pad linings
Clean or replace brake pads
- Clogged pipelines or hoses supplying fluid to the brake wheel cylinders
Disassemble and wash pipelines, hoses and couplings with fresh brake fluid
- Scores on the working surface of the rear axle drums
Remove the drum and clean the damaged areas
- The rear wheels are blocked earlier than the front ones due to incorrect adjustment of the pneumatic drive pressure regulator
Adjust the pressure regulator
- Loose fit of the ball in the socket of the pneumatic pressure regulator sleeve
Fix the problem
- The cuff of the large stage of the hydraulic pressure regulator was destroyed
Replace the cuff
- Lack of tightness between the cavities of the hydraulic pressure regulator due to destruction of the seal between the cavities
Replace seal
Heating the brake drums of the rear wheels:
- Weakening or breaking of the tension springs of the pads
Replace the spring
- The parking system cable is too tight
Adjust cable tension
Heating the front brake disc:
- Seizing of pads due to excessive contamination of the support surfaces of the caliper
Clean the support surfaces of the caliper
- Piston jamming due to contamination in the bracket cylinders
Clean the bracket, replace the protective covers
Air tanks are not filling. The sound of compressed air coming out of the regulator pipe is heard
Cylinders are not filled to the lower pressure (the pressure regulator does not work):
- The inlet valve of the pneumatic drive pressure regulator is damaged
Unscrew the top cover of the regulator and replace the valve
- Leakage of compressed air from the pneumatic drive
Depending on the location of the leak: replace the pipeline, hose or tighten the fittings of pipelines and hoses or tighten the fasteners of the connecting elements or replace the faulty device
- Compressor faulty
Repair or replace the compressor
Service brake circuit cylinder is not filled
Presence of condensation in air cylinders:
- The section of the triple safety valve connected to the air cylinder does not work or is not adjusted
Replace or adjust the device
- The check valve of the regeneration cylinder is stuck or the purge hole in it is clogged
Remove condensation
Carry out maintenance of the moisture-oil separator
Presence of oil in the first air cylinder:
- Increased oil release from the compressor, which caused clogging of the moisture-oil separator filter and failure of the moisture-oil separator adsorbing element
Replace or repair the compressor
Replace the glass with the absorbent element of the moisture-oil separator
Frequent operation of the pneumatic drive pressure regulator:
- Leakage of compressed air from the pneumatic drive in the area from the regulator to the safety valves
Depending on the location of the leak: replace the pipeline, or tighten the pipeline fittings, or tighten the fastening of the connecting elements, or replace the faulty device
Air tanks are filling slowly:
- Leakage of compressed air from the pneumatic drive due to leakage: at the junction of pipelines; damage to pipelines; at the joints of brake apparatus body parts due to damage to their seals; malfunctions of atmospheric terminals of devices
Depending on the location of the leak: replace the pipeline, hose, or tighten the fittings of pipelines and hoses, or tighten the fastening of the connecting elements, or replace the faulty device
- Compressor faulty
Repair or replace the compressor
The pressure in the air cylinders is higher or lower than normal (the pressure regulator is activated)
Ineffective braking when pressing the pedal of the service brake system:
- Out of adjustment Pressure regulator or pressure gauge is faulty
Adjust the pressure regulator
Replace pressure gauge
- Leakage of compressed air from the pneumatic drive
Depending on the location of the leak: replace the pipeline, hose, or tighten the fittings of pipelines and hoses, or tighten the fasteners of the connecting elements, or replace the faulty device
- Brake valve drive is out of adjustment
Adjust the brake valve drive
- Brake valve is faulty
Replace the brake valve
When you press the pedal of the service brake system or turn on the valve for the parking and spare brake systems, the rear lights do not light up or do not go out when they are turned off:
- brake signal sensors are faulty
Replace faulty brake light sensor or faulty wiring
- one of the pneumatic drive devices is faulty
Replace the faulty device
After releasing the pedal of the service brake system and with the parking valve turned off, the wheels do not release the brakes:
- The two-section brake valve is faulty or its drive is out of alignment
Replace the two-section brake valve or adjust its drive
- The parking brake valve is faulty
Replace the faulty device
- The spring energy accumulator is faulty
Replace the faulty device
- Leakage of compressed air from the pipelines from the parking brake valve to the spring energy accumulator
Depending on the location of the leak: replace the pipeline, hose or tighten the fittings of pipelines and hoses or tighten the fasteners of connecting elements
- The wheel brake mechanisms or the mechanical drive of the parking brake are not adjusted
Adjust the brakes
