Since 2009, a bracket has been installed on the VAZ-2123 engine, on which the power steering pump, auxiliary drive belt support roller and engine oil filter are attached.
Since the bracket is also the oil supply and outlet pipeline, rubber sealing rings are installed between it and the engine crankcase.
When repairing the engine or if oil leaks between this bracket and the crankcase, these rings must be replaced.
We perform the work on a lift or inspection pit.
To do this, remove the power steering pump:
Loosen the auxiliary drive belt and remove it from the hydraulic pump pulley.
Do not disconnect the hydraulic fluid supply and outlet hoses.
Using a 13 mm open-end wrench, loosen the lower pump plate mounting bolt
Using the same wrench, loosen the upper mounting bolt plates
Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the bolt securing the lower pump mount to the oil filter bracket (The power steering hose is removed in the picture).
Unscrew the upper pump mounting bolt
Remove the power steering pump and tie the pump to the front suspension crossmember bracket.
Remove the oil filter.
After that:
Using a 13 mm socket, unscrew the three bolts securing the oil filter bracket to the cylinder block
Remove the bracket with the auxiliary drive belt support roller.
Remove the small ring.
The ring has a rectangular cross-section
Remove the large ring.
The ring has a round cross-section
Put the small ring on the belt branch pipe, and insert the large one into the groove of the bracket flange
Apply a thin layer of engine oil to the rings and assemble in the reverse order
