If the pump fails, replace it as a whole, as its repair requires the use of special equipment and tools
If the new pump is not equipped with a nipple for connecting the hose, unscrew the nipple from the old pump and install it in the new one.
You will need: keys "13", "22", a screwdriver.
Remove the power steering pump drive belt (see "Tension of the Niva Chevrolet drive belt").
Drain the fluid from the power steering hydraulic system (see "Replacing the fluid in the Niva Chevrolet hydraulic system").
Unscrew the bolt-nipple of the high-pressure hose.
Pay attention to the condition of the copper gaskets. Replace bent or heavily compressed gaskets
Loosen the clamp of the supply hose and remove the hose from nipples
Unscrew the nut of the bolt securing the pump to the tension bar
Remove the bolt and spacer sleeve.
Unscrew the nut of the lower bolt.
After removing the bolt, remove the power steering pump
Install the pump in the reverse order of removal.
After installation, fill with fluid and bleed the hydraulic system of the booster (see. "Replacing the hydraulic fluid of the Niva Chevrolet").
Removing the hydraulic pump of a car manufactured after 2009
We perform the work on an inspection ditch or overpass.
Remove the oil pan protection and engine compartment mudguards.
Remove the auxiliary drive belt (see Tensioning the Niva Chevrolet drive belt).
Pump out the fluid from the power steering pump reservoir.
By inserting the tip of a screwdriver between the heads of the two bolts securing the power steering pump pulley, we prevent the pulley from turning.
Using a 13 mm open-end wrench, loosen the three bolts securing the pulley to the pump flange one by one.
Unscrew the bolts.
Remove the power steering pump pulley.
Substitute capacity for draining fluid from hoses and power steering pump
Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the clamp securing the pump inlet hose.
Remove the hose from the pump branch pipe
Using a 22 mm open-end wrench, unscrew the bolt-nipple securing the high-pressure hose tip
We take out the bolt-nipple.
The hose tip is sealed on both sides with copper washers.
Using a 13 open-end wrench, unscrew the bolts of the lower fastening of the power steering pump plate
Unscrew the bolts of the upper plate mount
Using a 13 key, unscrew the bolt of the lower pump mount to the oil filter bracket
Using a 13 mm open-end wrench, unscrew the upper pump mounting bolt
Move the pump forward and remove it along with the plate.
The upper power steering pump mounting bolt remains in the oil filter bracket hole, since the oil filter prevents its removal.
Using a 13 mm socket, unscrew the three bolts securing the plate to the power steering pump.
Remove the plate.
Install the pump in reverse order. Fill in the liquid and bleed the system.
