Replace the spring if it has mechanical damage or significant settlement
Signs of settlement: deterioration in ride smoothness, frequent suspension breakdowns; visible skew of the front of the car or a significant difference in the height of the front and rear parts that appeared during operation; pronounced traces of impact of spring coils.
You will need: wrenches "13" (two), "17" (two), "24", support (screw or hydraulic jack), wheel nut wrench.
By length under a load of 6276 N (640 kgf), springs are divided into two groups: group "A" - length greater than 192 mm; group "B" - length equal to or less than 192 mm.
Springs are marked with paint on the outer side of the coils: group "A" - white paint or no marking; group "B" - black.
The front and rear suspensions must be equipped with springs of the same class.
If group "A" springs are installed on the rear suspension, then the installation of group "B" springs on the front suspension is unacceptable.
It is possible (but highly undesirable) to install group "A" springs on the front suspension if group "B" springs are installed on the rear.
Install springs of the same group on the left and right sides of the vehicle.
Change springs in pairs and together with gaskets.
Remove and install springs with extreme caution to avoid the spring "shooting" out of the suspension unit and causing injury.
The proposed method for removing a spring without special tools requires certain skills.
The best way to remove and install springs is to use any spring from those available in the free sale.
If you install the clamps on the spring without hooking them onto the last turns, and tighten the spring as much as possible, its installation will be much easier.
Remove the wheel.
Loosen the lower arm axle nut.
Unscrew the nut of the lower shock absorber mounting bolt
Remove the lower shock absorber mounting bolt
Unscrew the two nuts of the stabilizer cushion bracket and remove the bracket.
Having jacked up the suspension until the compression stroke limiter is released, unscrew the three nuts of the ball joint mounting bolts and remove the bolts
Smoothly lower the lever, release the spring and remove it.
Remove the upper spring pad.
Remove the lower spring pad.
If necessary, remove the compression stroke limiter
Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal
Tighten the lower arm axle nut when the suspension is loaded with the weight of the car (on an inspection pit or overpass).
When working on a lift, place a support under the lower arm and slightly lower the car vehicle (when working on the site, lift the lever with a jack) so that the position of the levers approximately corresponds to their position under load.
After replacing the spring, check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles.
