The evaporator is removed for replacement in case of malfunction.
The evaporator is installed in the heating and air conditioning system unit of the passenger compartment.
The evaporator is made of aluminum tubes with external finning.
Passing through the evaporator tubes, the boiling refrigerant actively absorbs heat from the air blowing on the outer surface of the tubes.
The air is cooled and supplied to the passenger compartment of the car.
Prepare the car for work.
Place the car on a lift or inspection pit.
Bleed the refrigerant as described in the article "Bleeding and filling the air conditioning system of the Lada Largus with refrigerant"
Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew bolts 3, Figure 1, fastenings and disconnect tube 1 connecting the compressor to the evaporator (short part) and tube 2 connecting the condenser to the evaporator from the evaporator unit.
Install plugs on the tubes
During these operations, do not allow damage to the tubes!

Removing the heater fan
Using a Torx T-20 key, unscrew the two screws
Removing the radiator tube holder
Using a Torx T-20 key, unscrew the screw
Removing the heater radiator pipes
Using a Torx T-20 key, unscrew the screw and press the three clamps (shown by arrows in the picture)
Remove the heater radiator
Using a Torx T-20 key, unscrew the three screws at the bottom of the heater
Using the same tool, unscrew the two screws on the left side of the heater
Unscrew the screw located in the recess below the additional resistor of the heater fan
Unscrew the screw in the front part of the heater
Press two latches in the front part
Press one latch in the rear part of the heater
Disconnecting the left and right parts of the heater housing
After peeling off the foam seal, remove the evaporator shield
Remove the evaporator from the right side of the heater housing
Unscrew the two screws with a 4 mm Allen key
Remove the plate and the reducer
The evaporator tubes are sealed in the reducer with rubber rings
If the rings are deformed, replace them
Install the evaporator in the reverse order
In this case:
- - before installation, add compression oil to the evaporator in the amount according to the table in the article - Bleeding and filling the air conditioning system of the Lada Largus with refrigerant;
- - before installing the evaporator unit, replace the sealing rings with new ones. Apply Sanden SP-10 compressor oil to the sealing rings;
- - tightening torque of the tube bolts 8 Nm
After this, you need to evacuate the system and load the R134a refrigerant, the loading rate is 475±35g.
Check the air conditioning system for refrigerant leaks and check the system's operability.
Maintenance of the air conditioner evaporator
In the evaporator, when the air conditioner is running, moisture from the air condenses, and in the dampness, fungal spores, mold and dangerous microbes quickly multiply. All this can cause respiratory diseases in humans.
Especially a lot of microorganisms accumulate on the wet surfaces of the evaporator, if you do not install a cabin filter.
To reduce the health risk, it is recommended to clean the evaporator once a year.
To perform the work, you will need a product for cleaning the car air conditioner with an extension hose, a compressor.
To avoid damaging the radiator, do not apply air pressure higher than 3-4 bar when performing the following operation.
Blow out the radiator of the cooling system and the condenser from the engine compartment with compressed air from the compressor.
Through the radiator grilles and bumpers, wash the condenser from the outside with water under minimal pressure m, so as not to damage its cells.
Blow the condenser again with compressed air.
This procedure is effective only if performed regularly.
In some cases, you have to repeat the procedure several times, especially if the condenser has not been cleaned for a long time.
To make it easier to work, you can remove the front bumper.
If the condenser is very dirty (for example, when it is clogged with hardened dirt), you can remove the radiator of the cooling system.
It is permissible to wash dirt out of the condenser cells with a soft paint brush.
Vigorously shake the can with the air conditioner cleaning agent and, holding the can vertically, treat the evaporator with foam through the condensate drain tube.
During the following operation, there should be no people or pets in the car!
Start engine.
Turn on the air conditioning system, set the maximum speed of rotation of the air conditioning electric fan and close all the windows.
Leave the car and close all the doors for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, turn off the engine and ventilate the interior.
