We remove the steering gear for repair or to replace the steering rods or protective covers and the steering gear itself
You will need the following tools: 19, 10, 17 keys, Torx T30, 18 socket head, ball joint puller, screwdrivers
We prepare the car for the task and install it on an inspection ditch or lift
We set the wheels to a position corresponding to straight-line movement
We remove the engine sump guard

Unscrew the terminal connection nut in the passenger compartment under the instrument panel

Remove the bolt from the hole of the terminal connection of the intermediate shaft with the steering gear shaft-pinion

Move the cardan joint fork from the tip of the pinion shaft
Loosen the tightening of the front wheel mounting bolts
Lift the front of the car and install it on supports
Remove the left front wheel
Remove the engine guard and left mudguard

Unscrew the bolt securing the power steering tube to the subframe

Remove the bolt from the hole in the tube bracket

Unscrew the two front bolts securing the steering gear thermal shield

Unscrew the rear bolt securing the steering gear thermal shield

Remove the wiring harness from the holder on thermal screen

You twist the two bolts securing the rear suspension support of the power plant

Remove the support

Using a screwdriver, bend the holder of the power steering hoses forward to gain access to the nuts securing the tubes

We press out the pins of the ball joints of the tie rod ends from the bosses of the steering arms “described in the article replacing the rods”

Unscrew the nut securing the pressure tube

Put the tube to the side

Unscrew the nut securing the drain pipe

And we move the tube to the side
It is advisable to plug the tubes so that dirt does not get in

The rubber sealing rings of the tubes need to be replaced new
Remove the right wheel

Unscrew the right steering gear mounting bolt

Unscrew the left bolt securing the steering mechanism

Remove the bolts from the crankcase holes

Disconnecting the steering gear from the front suspension subframe

By tilting the power plant forward, we move the steering mechanism to the left

And we remove the steering mechanism, taking it out through the opening in the niche of the left wheel
Install all parts in reverse order
When installing the steering gear, make sure that the rack is in the middle position.
Tighten the steering gear mounting bolts to 105 Nm
Tighten the nut of the bolt of the terminal connection of the steering column with the tail of the pinion shaft to a torque of 21 Nm
Tighten the bolts of the bracket of the rear support of the power unit to a torque of 105 Nm
If increased steering wheel play, accompanied by a slight knocking of the rack when driving over uneven roads, you need to adjust the gap between the stop of the rack and the rack to the minimum, rotating the stop adjusting bolt clockwise

To adjust, remove the bolt lock washer with a screwdriver

And rotate the adjusting bolt with a 10 Allen key
You can't tighten the adjusting bolt too much.
If you overtighten the rack stop, there will be no self-stabilization of the front wheels, as a result of which the car will not adhere to a straight-line trajectory of movement, and when exiting a turn, the front wheels will not strive to take a position for moving in a straight line
After assembly, you need to bleed the power steering system, article - "Bleeding and replacing power steering fluid"
After this, we check and, if necessary, adjust the installation of the wheel angles.
