Shock absorbers serve to dampen suspension oscillations
The upper parts of the piston rods protruding from the shock absorbers are protected from dirt by rubber boots
If squeaks or knocks occur when driving off-road, the condition of the shock absorbers should be checked.
Inspect the shock absorber piston rod.
If the piston rod is bent or if there is peeling of the chrome plating, signs of corrosion, scoring, damage to the threaded part or the wrench flat on the working surface, the shock absorber must be replaced.
Place the shock absorber in a vertical position.
Check the condition of the shock absorber by moving the piston via the piston rod throughout its entire travel.
If jamming or lack of resistance is detected during the piston travel, or if obvious signs of fluid leakage through the seal are visible, the shock absorber must be replaced.
Replacing the front shock absorber
Jack up the vehicle and remove the front wheel. If working in an inspection pit, this step can be skipped.

Using a 19 mm socket, unscrew the nut of the lower mounting bolt of the shock absorber.

Remove the outer washer.

Do the same with the upper mounting of the shock absorber.

Remove the shock absorber

Remove the inner washers

Remove the rubber bushes from the shock absorber eye
Install a new shock absorber with new rubber bushes in the reverse order.
Replace the shock absorber on the other side of the vehicle in the same way.
Replacing the rear suspension shock absorber
It is more convenient to work in an inspection pit.

Using a 19 mm socket, unscrew the nut of the lower mounting of the shock absorber.

Remove the washer.

Do the same with the upper mounting of the shock absorber.

Remove the shock absorber from both studs.

On the stud of the upper mounting of the shock absorber there is another washer

Remove the rubber bushes from the shock absorber eyes
Check the shock absorbers for damage and test their operation.
It is advisable to replace the rubber bushes.
