We remove the brake cylinder for replacement, as well as to replace the cylinder repair kit
A defective cylinder can be easily detected by the presence of brake fluid leaking from under the brake drum
Remove the drum and brake pads (see the article - “How to replace the rear pads of a GAZ-2705”).
Drain the brake fluid from the rear wheel circuit (see the article - “Replacing brake fluid and bleeding the brake system of a Gazelle car”).
Holding the brake cylinder adapter with a 17mm wrench, and using a 12mm wrench, unscrew the brake pipe fitting*.
Disconnect the pipeline.
Using a 12mm socket, unscrew the two bolts securing the cylinder to the shield
Remove the brake cylinder
Use the key “17” to unscrew the adapter
A copper sealing washer is installed between the adapter and the cylinder
*If the tube is too tight, you need to unscrew the cylinder to the shield with a 12mm head.
Pull the cylinder so that the tube comes out through the hole in the shield.
Holding the union nut of the tube with a wrench, turn the brake cylinder counterclockwise and unscrew the tube.
In this way, you can save the handset from breakage.
After performing this operation, you need to develop the union nut of the tube, first moistening the union nut with brake fluid.
Install the new cylinder in reverse order, replacing the copper washer.
Having installed the pads and drum, we bleed the rear circuit.
