Signs of a throttle valve that does not close completely may include increased idle speed and fuel consumption
And if it does not open completely, the engine does not develop full power, there is insufficient engine responsiveness, jerks and dips in engine operation when the car is moving
If these faults occur, first try adjusting the throttle drive or replacing the cable (see "Replacing the throttle cable Niva Chevrolet").
If this does not lead to a positive result, replace the throttle assembly.
You will need: a socket wrench (head) "13", a Phillips screwdriver, pliers.
It is prohibited to unscrew the screws 1 of the throttle valve.
If they are then poorly tightened and locked, the unscrewed screw can get into the engine cylinder and disable it.
The position of the throttle valve is adjusted at the factory, so it is not recommended to touch the adjusting screw 2 of the throttle valve.
Drain the liquid from the engine cooling system (see. "Replacing the Niva Chevrolet Coolant").
If you have some experience, you can skip draining the coolant.
Prepare plugs of a suitable size, which you will use to plug the hoses immediately after disconnecting them.
The loss of coolant with this method will be insignificant.
Loosen the clamps securing the coolant supply hoses to the throttle assembly pipes, remove the cotter pin and remove the clamps.
Installed on the vehicle Band clamps are inconvenient to use.
They are very difficult to loosen, and when tightened again, they often do not provide a strong connection.
Therefore, we recommend disassembling them in the manner shown when first removing them and replacing them with worm clamps when assembling the unit.
Disconnect the coolant supply hoses.
Similarly, disconnect the hose of the small branch of the crankcase ventilation system
Loosen the clamp and disconnect the large branch hose of the crankcase ventilation system from the right part of the air supply pipe.
Loosen the clamps securing the right part of the air inlet pipe to the throttle assembly and intermediate bracket and remove it from the car.
Loosen the clamp and disconnect the purge hose from the throttle assembly branch pipe
Disconnect the throttle drive cable from the throttle assembly sector.
Disconnect the wiring harness blocks from the throttle position sensor and idle speed control valve.
Unscrew the two nuts securing the throttle assembly and remove the throttle assembly from the studs on the receiver.
Please note that there are two washers (one flat and one spring) under each nut.
Remove the gasket from the receiver.
If the throttle position sensor and idle speed control valve are not installed on the new assembly when replacing the throttle assembly, transfer them from the old assembly.
To do this, unscrew the two screws that secure them.
Replace the damaged foam ring installed under the throttle position sensor flaps.
Clean the dirty throttle assembly with carburetor cleaning fluid, after removing the sensor and regulator from it.
Also clean the dirty regulator and sensor (do not use solvents to clean them).
Remove the plastic diffuser from the receiver for inspection, which organizes the air flow.
Remove oil and other contaminants from the diffuser and the receiver.
Install the diffuser and throttle assembly in the reverse order removal.
The throttle assembly gasket is disposable and must be replaced.
The flat on the diffuser should face the flat surface of the receiver.
Adjust the throttle drive (see "Replacing the throttle cable Niva Chevrolet")
