Cause of malfunction

Remedy

The electric motor does not work

- Damaged wires or oxidized wire connections

Check and restore connections.

Replace damaged wires

- Blown fuse F18 in the fuse box

Replace the fuse

- Damaged heater switch - no voltage is supplied to the output terminals of the switch

Check the switch, replace with a new one if necessary

- Sticking or worn out brushes of the electric motor, open circuit in the armature winding or contamination of the commutator

Check the electric motor, repair or replace

Short circuit to ground of the armature winding - the fuse blows when the electric motor is turned on

Replace the electric motor

The electric motor only runs at one speed

The wires are damaged or the wire connections are oxidized

Check and restore the connections.

Replace the damaged wires

- The heater switch is damaged

Check the switch, replace it with a new one if necessary

- The additional resistor has burned out

Replace the additional resistor

The electric motor armature rotates slowly

- The collector is dirty or oxidized, the brushes are worn

Clean the collector, replace the brushes

- Interturn short circuit in the armature winding

Replace the electric motor

- The anchor shaft is jammed in the bearings

Replace the electric motor

The electric motor connection diagram is shown in Figure 1

An additional resistor is used to change the fan speed

An additional resistor is attached to the left side of the heater radiator casing

The resistor has three spirals and a fuse

When three spirals are connected to the electric motor power supply circuit, the first fan speed is ensured

If two spirals are connected, the second speed is turned on; if one spiral is connected, the third speed is turned on

When the electric motor is turned on without a resistor, the fan rotor rotates at maximum speed (3000 min -1)

If the electric motor is faulty, it is recommended to replace it with a new one. Of course, you can clean the collector

You don't have to remove the electric motor from the car to clean the collector. Just remove the water deflector shield, the protective casing of the electric motor, and then the cover of the electric motor with the brush holder

Characteristics of the electric motor:

  • - shaft rotation speed when the electric motor is loaded with an impeller at a voltage of 12 volts and a temperature of (25±10) º C, min -1 – 3000;
  • - current consumption at the specified load and rotation speed – no more than 18 A.
