The engine cooling system of the Lada Vesta is closed type under pressure.
There is a safety valve in the expansion tank cap.
The cooling system includes: engine cooling system radiator; water pump; thermostat; interior heating radiator; expansion tank.
Filling volume of the engine cooling system:
- - 11189 and 21129 (in the complete set without a pre-heater) - 8.7 l;
- - 11189 and 21129 (in the complete set with a pre-heater) - 9.3 l;
- - HR16 (in the complete set without a pre-heater) - 7.0 l;
- - HR16 (in the complete set with a pre-heater) - 7.6 l.
The temperature of the beginning of the opening of the thermostat valve is 85±2ºС.
The temperature of the full opening of the thermostat valve is 97±2ºС.
Draining the cooling engine fluids
There is no drain cock or plug for draining the fluid on the engine cooling radiator, so we drain the fluid by disconnecting the drain hose from the radiator.
To replace the coolant, place the car on a lift or in an inspection pit.
Remove the engine protection.
Remove the starter.
Using a 13 mm head, unscrew the drain plug on the cylinder block and screw in the fitting with a hose to drain the fluid from the cylinder block.
Use pliers to loosen clamp 1, (Figure 1), fasteners and disconnect outlet hose 2 from radiator pipe 3.
Unscrew plug 1 (see Figure 2) on expansion tank 2 and drain the coolant.
After draining the liquid from the engine cooling system, flush the system with water.
Filling the cooling system
Unscrew the hose nipple for draining the liquid and screw in the drain plug of the hole on the cylinder block.
Install the outlet hose 2, Figure 1, of the radiator on the radiator pipe 3 of the engine cooling system.
Install clamp 1 of the outlet hose of the radiator of the cooling system.
Install the starter.
Fill the engine cooling system with coolant, pouring it into the expansion tank.
Install plug 1, Figure 2, expansion tank.
Connect the ground wire terminal to the battery.
Start the engine and let it run for 2-3 minutes at idle speed to remove air locks in the cooling system.
Check the heater for operability.
After stopping the engine, check the coolant level and check for signs of leakage, and bring the fluid level up to normal if necessary.
The coolant level should be between the "min" and "max" marks on the expansion tank.
Install engine protection.
