The stabilizer serves for lateral stability of the car when driving
We remove the stabilizer to replace its rod if damaged or to replace its mounting cushions.
With prolonged use, rubber bushings and cushions may break, crack or bulge.
Due to wear of the rubber parts of the stabilizer, play and knocking occur when driving over uneven surfaces.
We hang out the front part of the car.
Using a 13 mm wrench or head, unscrew the stabilizer bar mounting nut (Fig. 1) to the suspension arm, holding the screw from turning with a TorxT-40 wrench.
Remove the lower rubber bushing.
A metal washer is installed in the recess of the end of the bushing facing the nut (Fig. 3).
We take out the screw with the upper rubber bushing and plastic washer.
Pull the end of the rod down with your hand and remove the rubber-metal intermediate bushing.
Also remove the parts that fasten the stabilizer bar to the other arm.
Install the new parts in the reverse order.
When installing the intermediate bushing, orient it with the grooves located on the outer surface of the bushing facing up.
Tighten the nuts of the screws that fasten the stabilizer bar to the arms with a torque of 14 Nm, when the car is standing on its wheels.
To replace the stabilizer bar cushion, use an 18 mm head with an extension to unscrew the bolt securing the cushion bracket and subframe to the body (Fig. 7).
Using a 10 mm open-end wrench, unscrew the nut securing the cushion bracket to the subframe (Fig. 8).
Lower the bracket, removing its pin from the subframe hole, and remove the bracket, removing its front end from the subframe groove.
Remove the cushion from the rod.
Install a new stabilizer bar cushion in the reverse order.
The slot on the cushion should be located in front (in the direction of vehicle travel).
Similarly, replace the cushion on the other side of the rod stabilizer.
If it is necessary to dismantle the rod, disconnect both its ends from the suspension arms and remove the pillow brackets.
Remove the stabilizer bar.
Inspect the stabilizer bar.
There should be no deep abrasive wear in the places where the cushions are installed.
Areas with deep wear significantly increase the likelihood of bar breakage.
Install the stabilizer bar in the reverse order.
