In the article, we will consider possible malfunctions of the car's brake system and troubleshooting methods
- Cause of malfunction
- (Remedy)
Pneumatic system tanks are not filled with compressed air or are filled slowly
Pressure regulator does not work:
- Damaged hoses and pipelines
- Replace hoses and pipes;
- The tightening of the joints of pipelines, hoses, connecting and adapter fittings is loosened
- Pull up connection points. Replace defective fittings and seals;
- The tightening of the body parts of the devices is loose
- Tighten the fastening of body parts;
- Hardware failure. The tightness of the receiver is broken
- Replace the defective machine. Replace receiver;
The pressure regulator often works when the pneumatic system receivers are filled:
- Leakage of compressed air in the line from the compressor to the block of protective valves
- Fix the leak
Reservoirs of the pneumatic system are not filled with compressed air. Pressure regulator triggered:
- Incorrectly adjusted pressure regulator
- Adjust pressure regulator, replace if necessary;
- Clogged pipelines in the area from the pressure regulator to the safety valve block
- Inspect pipelines, remove and blow if necessary, replace damaged ones;
The receivers of circuit III are not filled
- Faulty double safety valve
- Replace the defective valve;
- Clogged supply pipes
- Purge pipelines;
- The body of the double protective valve is deformed due to excessive tightening of the bolts securing the valve to the frame side member
- Ensure even tightening of the bolts securing the double safety valve to the frame side member
Receivers of circuits I and II are not filled
Faulty triple safety valve
Clogged supply lines
- Replace valve. Blow out pipelines
Trailer (semi-trailer) tanks are not filled
Faulty control devices for trailer brakes located on the tractor or in the pneumatic system of the trailer (semi-trailer)
- Replace defective machine
The pressure in the receivers of circuits I and II is higher or lower when the pressure regulator is operating
Faulty two-pointer pressure gauge. Pressure regulator adjustment out of order
- Replace two pointer pressure gauge. Adjust pressure regulator, replace if necessary
Inefficient braking or no braking of the car when the pedal is fully depressed:
Faulty brake valve
Leakage of compressed air in the lines of circuits I and II behind the brake valve
- Replace the brake valve. Fix the leak;
- Adjustment of the brake valve drive is broken
- Adjust the brake valve drive;
- Incorrectly adjusted brake force regulator drive
- Adjust the brake force regulator or replace it;
- Faulty pressure relief valve
- Replace pressure relief valve;
- The permissible stroke of the brake chamber rods has been exceeded
- Adjust the stroke of the brake chamber rods
Inefficient braking or lack of braking of the vehicle by the emergency brake, insufficient effectiveness of the parking brake:
- Faulty accelerator valve, parking brake control valve
- Replace the defective brake apparatus;
- Piping or hoses of circuit III clogged
- Clean the pipes and blow them out with compressed air. Replace if necessary;
- Spring energy accumulators are faulty
- Replace the faulty spring-loaded brake chamber;
- The permissible stroke of the brake chamber rods has been exceeded
- Adjust the stroke of the brake chamber rods
- Faulty rear bogie brakes
- Repair
When the parking brake lever is placed in a horizontal position, the car does not release the brakes
- Air leakage from the pipelines of circuit III or the atmospheric outlet of the accelerator valve
- Fix the leak using the methods described in point 1
When the car is moving, the rear bogie is braked without actuating the service brake and the parking brake control valve
- The two-section brake valve is faulty. The adjustment of the brake valve drive is broken
- Replace the faucet. Brake valve drive adjusted
- The spring energy accumulator from the working chamber is faultyero
- Replace spring brake chamber
