To remove the steering column, remove the steering wheel as described in the article - "Removing the steering wheel of a Niva Chevrolet"
Remove the steering column switches.
Disconnect the wiring block of the APS coil from the wiring harness block
Disconnecting the wiring block of the contact part of the ignition switch
Using a 13 mm wrench, loosen the nut of the tie bolt securing the tip of the lower cardan joint of the intermediate shaft to the steering gear screw shaft, holding the bolt from turning with a 13 mm wrench.
Remove the tie bolt.
The two bolts of the front fastening of the steering shaft bracket to the body have shear heads.
By striking the heads of the bolts with a chisel, we loosen their tightening
After that, use pliers to unscrew the bolts.
Using a 13 mm head with an extension, unscrew the two nuts of the rear bracket mount.
Lower the steering column.
Using a screwdriver to loosen the split end of the cardan joint, pull the shaft off the splines of the steering gear screw shaft.
To remove the intermediate shaft, use a 13 mm head to unscrew the nut of the mounting bolt the tip of the cardan joint of the intermediate shaft to the upper steering shaft, holding the bolt from turning with a wrench of the same size.
We take out the bolt.
We pull the tip of the cardan joint from the splines of the upper steering shaft
Remove the mounting ring from the conical part of the shaft
Assemble and install the steering column in the reverse order.
