The automatic transmission uses Genuine EJ-1 ATF transmission oil (supplied by JX Nippon Oiland Energy Corporation) in accordance with the current “Codifier of main and auxiliary materials used in the maintenance and repair of Lada vehicles” K 3100.25100.00018

The oil used in the automatic transmission does not require service replacement, since its high performance characteristics ensure normal operation of the automatic transmission throughout the entire service life of the vehicle.

In cases where it is necessary to drain the oil from the automatic transmission (repairing the automatic transmission, replacing oil seals and gaskets, removing wheel drives, etc.), reusing the oil is not allowed.

The gearbox may only be filled with new oil.

When adding or changing oil, repairing and any other actions on the automatic transmission, prevent dirt and other foreign particles from getting into the automatic transmission.

If necessary, wipe internal parts (dipstick, drive oil seal seats, gears and shafts when repairing automatic transmissions, etc.) only with lint-free paper.

Flint and dirt particles can clog the throttle openings of the control valve system and lead to disruption of the automatic transmission algorithm or its complete failure.

Check the level and change the oil in the automatic transmission with the car standing, on a horizontal surface.

Checking the oil level in the automatic transmission

Before removing the oil level indicator (dipstick), thoroughly clean the adjacent surfaces from dirt.

Only use lint-free paper or towels to wipe the oil level indicator.

Checking the oil level should be done at an oil temperature of 70 - 80˚ C

How to check and change the oil in the Lada Granta automatic transmission

Procedure for checking the oil level

  • - warm up the engine;
  • - check for oil leakage from the automatic transmission, if necessary, repair the leak;
  • - measure the oil temperature in the automatic transmission (digital multimeter with thermocouple);
  • - if the oil temperature is not high enough, you need to drive the car for about 10 minutes (at an ambient temperature of 20˚C, it takes about 10 minutes to warm up the oil to a temperature of 50˚-80˚C);
  • - place the car on a level surface and apply the parking brake;
  • - with the engine running, press the brake pedal and move the gear shift lever from position “P” to position “1”, then move the gear shift lever from position “1” to position “P”, holding the lever for 5 seconds in each intermediate position;
  • - remove the oil level indicator, wipe it and reinsert the indicator into the automatic transmission until it stops;
  • - remove the indicator again and check the oil level, which should be within the control area “A” for hot oil;
  • - if the oil level is near the “MIN” mark, you need to add oil.

Attention:

  • - insufficient oil level in the automatic transmission can lead to air being sucked into the oil pump;
  • - excessive oil level in the automatic transmission can lead to a car fire.

Checking the condition of the oil in the automatic transmission

Oil condition - Possible causes - Elimination method

Oily (viscous-oily) - The clutch or brake is burnt out - Carry out diagnostics of the automatic transmission, check the wiring harnesses, cooling system pipes, etc., eliminate faults. Change the oil in the automatic transmission.

Milk-white or cloudy - Presence of water in the oil - Troubleshoot and change the automatic transmission oil

Large amount of metal powder - Excessive wear of rubbing surfaces - Fix the problem and change the oil in the automatic transmission

Oil change

Put the car on a lift or inspection ditch, apply the parking brake and turn off the ignition.

Raise the car to a height convenient for performing work

How to check and change the oil in the Lada Granta automatic transmission

Unscrew drain plug 2 and overflow pipe 3 and drain the oil from the gearbox.

Screw the overflow tube into place. The tightening torque of the overflow tube is 14.8 Nm (1.5 kgf.m).

Install a new O-ring on the drain plug and screw the plug into place. The tightening torque of the plug is 34.3 or (3.5 kgf.m).

Lower the car if it was on a lift.

Remove the oil level indicator from the automatic transmission and pour approximately 1 liter of GenuineEJ-1 ATF transmission oil through the indicator hole.

Bring the oil level in the automatic transmission to normal.
