Removing the instrument panel is necessary to remove and repair the interior heater, as well as for other repairs
The work on removing and installing an old-style instrument panel (before 2003) is shown.
The new panel is removed and installed in almost the same way, the difference lies in the location and number of wires and air ducts of the heating and ventilation system.
The panel must be removed with an assistant, since the instrument panel is quite heavy.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the three self-tapping screws securing the upholstery
Remove the windshield pillar trim.
Remove the steering column.
Remove the instrument cluster (see How to remove and install the instrument cluster of a Gazelle car).
Disconnect the connectors from the switch for the cabin lights and the rear fog lamp.
Disconnect the plug block from the headlight electric corrector.
Use keys “7” and “8” to unscrew the bolt securing the air damper control cable.
Use a screwdriver to unscrew the screw securing the cable sheath and disconnect the cable from the carburetor.
Disconnect the hazard warning switch connector.
Disconnect the two cigarette lighter connectors.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the two screws securing the heater control panel.
Use the “8” key to unscrew the 10 screws along the contour of the panel.
Pull the panel slightly towards you and disconnect the air duct hoses from the deflectors.
Remove the panel by pulling out the carburetor choke rod.
Remove the right and left heater air ducts.
Using an 8-point head, unscrew the two screws securing the front panel trim
Remove the cover
Install the panel in this order.
Having installed the panel extension, connect it to the heater and tighten the bolts securing the right and left air ducts for blowing the windshield.
Tighten the bolts that secure them.
Install the panel and tighten one screw securing it on the right and left sides of the panel.
Use your hand to connect the rigid air duct of the right deflector to the heater through the opening for the radio.
We connect the corrugated hoses of the air ducts to the door glass blower deflectors.
It is more convenient to do this through the opening of the instrument cluster and the cutout in the lower part on the right side of the panel
Install the panel in reverse order.
