The car is equipped with a windshield wiper 60.5205 or 70.5205 with an electric drive for two blades
The electric windshield wiper motor with a gearbox and a system of drive levers is located in the engine compartment under the lower front end lining
The windshield wiper is controlled by the right steering column switch 3302.3709200 or 9902.3709.
When the windshield wiper is turned off, its blades are automatically laid along the lower lining of the front end.
Windshield wiper malfunctions and solutions
- Cause of malfunction
Remedy
The windshield wiper does not work:
- The electric motor is faulty (clicking noises are heard periodically when the thermal fuse of the windshield wiper is turned off)
Check the electric motor separately.
Disassemble the faulty electric motor.
Clean the commutator, replace the brushes if necessary, lubricate the bearings with engine oil.
If the winding in the electric motor is burned out, replace the electric motor
- Switch is faulty
Check with a test lamp, replace if necessary
- Short circuit in circuits
Connect a test lamp instead of the fuse and, disconnecting sections of the circuit, starting from the windshield wiper, find the short circuit and repair it
- Sticking of the axes of the levers or hinges of the lever system (clicks are periodically heard when the thermal fuse of the windshield wiper is turned off)
With the windshield wiper removed, remove the crank from the gearbox axle and check the lever system by hand for any jams.
Lubricate all joints and axles with engine oil
- Wear of the worm gear of the gearbox (the operation of the electric motor can be heard, but the brushes do not move)
Replace the worm gear
- Windshield wiper thermal fuse is faulty
Check with a test lamp, replace the fuse if necessary
The motor armature rotates at low frequency:
- Contamination or oxidation of the collector
Disassemble the electric motor, clean the collector
- Armature jamming in bearings
Clean the shaft journals
- Faults in the windings (see “The windshield wiper does not work”)
Check the windings, replace the motor if necessary
The electric motor is running, but the brushes are motionless:
- Weak fastening of the crank on the axis of the gearbox
Check the crank fastening. Tighten the fastening nut
- Broken gear teeth
Replace the gearbox
During windshield wiper operation, the blades hit body parts or the blades stop too high after switching off:
- Brush arms are installed incorrectly
Change the setting of the brush arms
The windshield wiper operates at one speed:
- Switch is faulty
Check with a test lamp, replace if necessary
- Brushes stuck in the electric motor
Disassemble the electric motor, check the condition of the brushes, replace the electric motor if necessary
Removing and disassembling the GAZ-2705 windshield wiper
Lift up the protective cap of the lever.
Use a 10mm wrench to unscrew the nut
Using sliding pliers, pull the lever from the slots.
Remove the second lever in the same way.
Prying it up with a thin screwdriver
remove the six plugs for the bushings securing the front panel trim
Use a slotted screwdriver to unscrew the six self-tapping screws securing the cladding
Take it out amortez together with plastic bushings.
Use a 24mm wrench to unscrew the nut securing the outer panel cladding.
Remove the panel.
Disconnect the fluid supply hose from the tee.
Use a 24mm wrench to unscrew the nuts securing the two wiper bushings
Remove the sealing gaskets.
Disconnect the wiper block in the engine compartment.
Using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the two bolts securing the windshield wiper bracket to the body.
Remove the windshield wiper.
In order to remove the left link bushing from the hole in the body panel, close the hood halfway.
Use a screwdriver to unscrew the two screws and disconnect the wire tips from the bimetallic fuse.
If the blades did not extend beyond the boundaries of the windshield during operation of the windshield wiper, before disassembling we mark the relative positions of the gearmotor and the crank on its shaft
Use a 13mm wrench to unscrew the nut
Remove the crank from the shaft splines.
Remove the three screws securing the bracket to the gearmotor.
Remove the rod mechanism with bracket
Assemble and install the purifier in reverse order.
In this case, we place the crank on the gearbox shaft according to the mark.
After installing a new wiper or replacing the gearbox, it is possible that the wiper blades, moving, will extend beyond the glass.
This problem cannot be eliminated by rearranging the brushes on the splines.
It is necessary to rearrange the crank on the gearbox shaft to ensure proper operation of the cleaner.
Checking and replacing the windshield wiper relay
To create intermittent wiper operation, an electronic relay 524.3747 is used.
If the windshield wiper fails, it is necessary to determine whether the windshield wiper or the switch is faulty.
To do this, you need to disconnect the plug block from the switch (it is located under the instrument panel) and connect the plug tips of the block (which remains on the wiring harness going to the wiper), as shown in the figure, “A” for low speed and, “B » for high speed.
If the windshield wiper starts to operate, this indicates a faulty switch, and if not, the windshield wiper is faulty.
To check the functionality of the windshield wiper removed from the car, it is necessary to connect the windshield wiper connector according to the diagram shown in the figure (lamp 2 will blink).
If the windshield wiper operates at low and high speeds, but does not work in intermittent mode, check the serviceability of the intermittent operation relay.
To replace the windshield wiper relay in the engine compartment (above the expansion tank), remove the connecting block from the relay terminals
Use a 10mm wrench to unscrew the bolt and remove the relay
