The spring-hydraulic tensioner is removed for replacement when it fails, as well as when replacing parts of the timing drive and cylinder head
You will need: a 10 mm spanner, a screwdriver.
To facilitate access to the tensioner, loosen the clamp securing the right part of the air supply pipe to the throttle assembly
Unscrew the bolt securing the pipe
Having disconnected the right part of the pipe from the throttle assembly, lift it up.
Unscrew the nut of the oil supply pipe to the tensioner (for clarity, the hoses of the outlet pipe of the cooling jacket are disconnected).
Disconnect the tube from the tensioner and move it to the side.
On new modifications, the tube is slightly different
To unscrew it, use a 13 head to unscrew the bolt-fitting
Remove the copper washer from the union bolt and take the union bolt with another copper gasket out of the hole in the tube tip
Unscrew the two nuts securing the tensioner to the cylinder head cylinders
Remove the tensioner from the socket, being careful not to damage the gasket located underneath it
We recommend replacing the gasket with a new one each time the tensioner is removed.
Before installing, lubricate it on both sides with a thin layer of sealant.
Install the tensioner in the reverse order of removal, checking the cleanliness of the drainage hole in its housing.
