The VAZ-2123 uses headlight assemblies that combine low and high beam headlights (with single-filament lamps) and direction indicators.

In addition, the headlights contain side light lamps.

The headlight connection diagram is shown in the figure.

The low and high beam headlights are switched on using auxiliary relays K4 and K5, located in the mounting block.

The control voltage to the relay windings is supplied from headlight switch 3 if the switch button 5 for external lighting is fully pressed.

Headlight wiring diagram: 1 - headlight unit; 2 - mounting block; 3 - headlight switch; 4 - ignition switch; 5 - exterior lighting switch; 6 - high beam indicator lamp in the instrument cluster; K4 - low beam relay; K5 - high beam relay; A - to the power source

When the low beam is turned on, the low beam lamps light up, and when the high beam is turned on, all lamps (both low and high beam) light up.

Regardless of the position of the switch key 5, you can briefly turn on the high beam headlights by pulling the lever of the switch 3 of the headlights towards you.

In this case, voltage is supplied to contact "30" of the switch 3 directly from the power sources.

Lamps used in the headlight unit:

  • - high beam lamp - AKG 12-55 (H1)
  • - low beam lamp - H7
  • - turn signal lamp - PY21
  • - parking light lamp - A 12-5-2 (W5W)
