The vehicle is equipped with a permanent magnet heater fan motor
An additional resistor is installed in the motor power supply circuit to obtain different rotation speeds.
It includes three spirals and a fuse.
When current passes through all three spirals, the 1st rotation speed of the heater fan is provided, through two spirals - the 2nd speed, through one - the 3rd speed.
When the electric motor is turned on without an additional resistor, the fan motor armature rotates at a maximum 4th speed.
If the electric motor fails, replace it with a new one.
The only possible repair of the electric motor is to clean the collector.
Removing and installing the heater fan motor
You will need screwdrivers with flat and cross-shaped blade.
Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
Remove the heater, article - Removing and installing the Lada Priora heater.
Remove the ventilation hose of the brush assembly of the fan motor.
Remove the three mounting screws
Remove the fan motor from its housing
This is what the fan motor looks like assembled with the impeller.
If the motor or impeller is faulty, the entire assembly must be replaced, since an attempt to remove the impeller from the motor shaft will result in its breakage.
Install the fan motor in the reverse order of removal.
Possible malfunctions of the heater fan motor
Cause of malfunction - Method of elimination
The electric motor does not works:
Damaged wires or oxidized wire connections - Replace damaged wires
Fuse F9 in the mounting block has blown - Replace the fuse
Damaged heater switch - no voltage is supplied to the switch output terminals - Check the switch, replace with a new one if necessary
Stuck or worn out electric motor brushes, open circuit in the armature winding or dirty commutator - Check the electric motor, repair or replace it
Short circuit to ground in the armature winding - the fuse blows when the electric motor is turned on - Replace the electric motor
The electric motor only runs at one speed:
Damaged wires or oxidized connections - Replace damaged wires
Damaged heater switch - Replace the switch
Blown additional resistor - Replace the resistor
The motor armature rotates slowly:
Contamination or oxidation of the commutator, wear of the brushes - Clean the commutator, replace the brushes
Interturn short circuit in the armature winding - Replace the motor
