The ZIL-5301 vehicle is equipped with a parking brake system with a drive from a spring energy accumulator.
The parking brake is activated by turning the valve handle to the extreme fixed position.
Air is released from under the diaphragm of the spring energy accumulator, the spring is released and presses the brake shoes to the drums of the rear wheels.
If air leaks from the parking brake system circuit, the rear wheels are braked spontaneously.
