The frequency of replacing the air filter element is 10 thousand kilometers.
If you frequently drive on dusty roads, you need to change the filter element more often.
If the filter is heavily contaminated, it has increased resistance to air passage, causes excessive fuel enrichment and therefore reduces engine power.
Periodically, you need to remove the filter element and clean it of dust by vigorously shaking it or blowing it with compressed air in the direction opposite to the air movement when the engine is running.
Replacing the filter element of the ZMZ-402 engine air filter
Use a screwdriver to loosen the clamp on the crankcase exhaust hose
Remove the crankcase gas exhaust hose.
“Snap off” the five spring clips securing the air filter cover
Remove the cover.
Remove the filter element and clean the housing from dust and debris.
Insert a new filter element and install the cover, aligning the arrows on the body and cover
Removing the air filter housing of the ZMZ-402 engine
Take out the filter element.
Using a slotted screwdriver, loosen the clamp securing the corrugated air intake hose and remove the hose.
Use a screwdriver to bend the antennae of the lock washers securing the air filter housing.
Use a 10mm wrench to unscrew the three fastening nuts.
Remove the ring plate.
Remove the air filter housing
Do not lose the three bushings inserted into the rubber seal of the filter housing
Install the filter housing in reverse order.
Replacing the filter element of the air filter of the ZMZ-406 engine
Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw of the air duct clamp and remove the clamp.
Remove the rubber air duct from the air filter housing.
Using wrenches 10 and 13, unscrew the nuts of the housing clamp.
Unscrew the wing nut from the bottom of the filter housing and remove the upper half of the housing along with the filter element.
Use a 17mm wrench to unscrew the nut securing the filter element
Having removed the sealing rubber washer, remove the filter element
Install a new filter element and assemble the air filter in reverse order.
A filter of a different design can be installed on some vehicles with a ZMZ-4062 engine.
